Chair Peterson called the meeting to order at 8:06 a.m.
University of Utah Budget Presentation
Joseph Fitzgerald introduced University of Utah budget.
3a. University of Utah Budget Introduction
Taylor Randall, President, University of Utah presented University of Utah Budget.
University of Utah Presentation
Sen. Kwan asked several questions including access and retention data, progress on the student center, and job placement numbers. President Randall responded.
Sen. Johnson expressed the need for funding models compared with other schools. President Randall responded.
Rep. Hall asked if the proposed medical program in St. George will be run through the University of Utah or Utah Tech. Michelle Hoffman, Associate Dean, University of Utah Medical Center responded.
Rep. Walter asked about the progress of operational excellence initiatives that were initiated last year. President Randall responded.
Chair Peterson asked questions about performance funding and student access for Utah students. President Randall responded.
University of Utah Health Care System Presentation
Michael Good, Senior Vice President of Health Sciences, University of Utah, Dan Lundergan, Chief Executive Officer, University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics presented University of Utah Health Care System.
University of Utah Health Care Presentation
Rep. Wilcox asked several questions including clarification of the charts presented, graduate medical education numbers and comments on Children Health Graduate Medical Education (CHGME). Dr. Good responded.
Sen. Wilson asked if there is a possibility for expansion in the Cache Valley area. Dr. Good responded.
Sen. Vickers expressed appreciation for Doctor Good's leadership through COVID. He also commented on the high quality of health care that we have in Utah.
Rep. Strong asked about the drastic increase in state funding in the last year. Dr. Good and Dan Lundergan responded.
Southern Utah University Budget Presentation
Joseph Fitzgerald introduced Southern Utah University budget.
5a. Southern Utah University Budget Introduction
Mindy Benson, President, Southern Utah University and Colter Bennett, Student Association President, Southern Utah University presented Southern Utah University Budget.
5b. Southern Utah University 2025 GS Presentation
Rep. Wilcox asked for an explanation of the requested funding for the accelerated masters degree program and if there are any policies that would prevent this program from being implemented. President Benson responded.
Approval of Minutes
MOTION:House Vice Chair Walter moved to approve the minutes of the January 23, 2025 and January 27, 2025 meetings.The motion passed with a vote of 15-0-2.

Rep. Hall echoed positive comments about SUU. Presidnet Benson responded
Sen. Johnson commented on the richness of the educational experience at SUU. President Benson responded.
Sen. Vickers asked Colter about what attracted him to SUU. Colter Bennett responded.
Chair Peterson commented that the committee needs to be aware that SUU is the lowest funded university in Utah.
Utah Tech University Budget Presentation
Joseph Fitzgerald introduced Utah Tech University Budget.
6a. Utah Tech University Budget Introduction
Courtney White, Interim President, Utah Tech University and Bella Estes, Student Body President, Utah Tech University presented Utah Tech University Budget.
6b. Utah Tech University 2025 GS Presentation
Sen.Riebe asked about the judging catgories of the belly flop competition and commented on the debate competition hosed at SUU. Bella Estes responded.
MOTION:Rep. Wilcox moved to adjourn.The motion passed with a vote of 10-0-7.
