Committee members discussed novel vehicles and asked clarifying questions.

Rep. Petersen presented an overview of 2026 General Session draft legislation, "Boating Safety Education."
Rep. Christofferson asked a clarifying question.
Ty Hunter, Boating Program Coordinator, Boating Advisory Council, provided clarifying information.
Committee members continued to ask clarifying questions.
Rep. Defay asked a clarifying question and suggested looking into becoming reciprocal with the invasive species requirements of Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming.
Chair Harper asked Rep. Petersen to bring a final version of the draft legislation back to the committee next month for a vote.

Leif Elder, Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs, Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), presented an overview of 2026 General Session draft legislation, "Road Jurisdiction Amendments."
MOTION:Rep. Christofferson moved to favorably recommend as a committee bill, "Road Jurisdiction Amendments." The committee discussed the motion.The motion passed with a vote of 13-0-5.

Nate Wiburg, Transportation Planner, Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization, and Jeff Gilbert, Executive Director, Cache Metropolitan Planning Organization, presented on what the metropolitan planning organizations have been working on.
Rep. Christofferson asked a clarifying question.
