Enactment of this legislation could cost the Department of Public Safety $10,000 one time General Fund in FY 2024 to develop an annual training for the Police Officers'' Standards and Training on trauma-informed responses and investigations of sexual assault and sexual abuse. Enactment of this legislation could also cost the Department of Health and Human Services $3,500 one time General Fund in FY 2023 to develop rules related to the distribution of emergency contraceptive and develop information for distribution about how sexual assault victims may access free emergency contraception. The Department has indicated that they could absorb these costs. Enactment of this legislation could also cost $50,000 ongoing from the Crime Victims Reparations Fund beginning in FY 2024 to pay for health care costs for women who become pregnant as a result of sexual assault.
