In 2006, USU restructured the existing Continuing Education organization and created a university regional campus system, which includes distance education. The reporting line moved to the Provost's Office and reinforced the concept of one university, one faculty, one degree, and one curriculum.
Area regional campuses and distance education centers offer USU academic courses and degree programs in underserved and rural communities. USU has four line items for the regional campuses and distance education centers, including the USU Brigham City Regional Campus.
During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $27,660,900 from all sources for Brigham City Regional Campus. This is a 4.3 percent increase from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $6,188,100 from the General/Education Funds, a reduction of 2.1 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.
In addition to statewide compensation and internal service fund cost increases, the following appropriation adjustments were made during the 2015 General Session:
Performance measures (Degrees Conferred, FTE Student Enrollment, and Graduation Rates) for Regional Campuses are included in the Education and General line item.
USU offers seven associate's degrees, 26 bachelor's degrees, 21 master's degrees, and one doctoral degree through its Regional Campuses.
Education delivery at the Brigham City Regional Campus includes 43% face-to-face, 40% broadcast, and 17% online.
Utah State University's master plan includes establishing a new campus for the Brigham City Regional Campus to the north of Highway 89 and east of Main Street. The 2014 Legislature authorized the Brigham City Academic Building and ground was recently broken for its construction. The building is projected to be completed in December 2015.
