Subject: Please vote YES on SB 249 - Ogden Canyon
Date: Wed Mar 12 20:04:24 MDT 2014
I am writing to request that you vote in favor of SB 249. Presently, there is no access between Ogden Valley and Ogden City except by motorized vehicles. In fact, the State has posted signs in Ogden Canyon that say (see attached photo);
PEDS AND CYCLISTS
NEXT 5 MILES
I believe this is the only canyon in our State that has such signs posted. Most have signs that read, “SHARE THE ROAD”. Because the State believes it is too dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians to use the Ogden Canyon, it should provide an alternative method. A trail certainly would provide a much safer route for cyclists and pedestrians through the canyon.
Additionally, this bill supports our State’s attempt at providing alternative modes of transportation to reduce the current high levels of pollution caused by gas-powered vehicles. Alternative transportation is clearly needed to connect Ogden Valley. Please voteYes on SB 249.
Thank you for your careful consideration.
