Congress Must Do More

In 2014 the total cost of Alzheimer’s to our nation will be $214 billion, including $150 billion to Medicare and Medicaid. Yet less than 1% of this total has been committed to Alzheimer’s research, the only path to reducing this cost.

While Congress provided additional funding for Alzheimer’s research in January 2014, the chronic underinvestment in Alzheimer’s research persists. Congress must continue its commitment to the fight against Alzheimer’s by increasing funding for Alzheimer’s research by an additional $200 million.

Ask Congress to do more for Alzheimer’s research this year!

Join a Webinar on Federal Progress on Healthy People 2020 Dementia Objectives

For the first time ever, the nation’s health promotion and prevention goals – known as Healthy People 2020 – included objectives related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Now is your opportunity to join a webinar on the progress being made toward meeting those objectives. Speakers will include Dr. Howard Koh, the Assistant Secretary for Health, as well as representatives from the National Institutes of Health, the Administration on Aging, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The webinar will take place on June 19 from 12:30-2:00 EST. There are approximately 2,000 phone lines available, and we want to fill all of them to show the federal government how important the Alzheimer’s issue is to the American people and how important it is that the federal government continue to work to address the Alzheimer’s crisis.

If you are interested in participating in the webinar, please register today. Let’s fill up those phone lines!
