Today's Democratic hero is Senator Luz Robles, and she needs our support tonight as she takes on Chris Stewart in a live 2nd District debate at Southern Utah University.
Tune in live from 6-7 p.m. on either KSL, KUED, KBYU or UEN — or stream the debate and cheer for Luz.
Now is the critical time to support our candidates. If possible, please donate to Luz. With less than 6 weeks till Election Day, mail needs to go out, signs need to be printed, radio ads need to be purchased, and voters need to be pushed to the polls! In honor of District Two, please donate $2, $20, $200, or as much as you can afford today!
From the beginning, Luz has said this campaign is about what Utahns deserve, not what we currently have. That means a genuine focus on education, immigration, veterans and addressing pertinent problems from the middle, not Stewart's fringe.
The daughter of two Mexican college professors, Luz holds a master's in Public Administration from the University of Utah. She is a banker and business consultant, serving as a director of the Zions Bank Business Resource Center.
Luz was elected to the Utah State Senate in 2008, then re-elected in 2012. She recently served on the Executive Appropriations and Social Services Appropriations committees along with several standing committees including ethics and health and human services. She was appointed in 2005 by Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. to the State Office of Ethnic Affairs. Luz has served on multiple medical boards including the Regence Caring Foundation, Utah Health Policy Project and Primary Children's Medical Center.
In 2010, Luz received the Salt Lake Chamber Pathfinder Award and SBA award. She has also received the Pete Suazo Memorial Award from the University of Utah.
Cheer Luz tonight as she champions real Utah values not the special interests of extremists.
