As I read about yet another fire truck crash, this one involving a motorist who blew a red light, I picked up a book I'd recommended to friends many times but could never interest anyone in. "Traffic: Why we Drive the Way we do (and What It Says About Us)" in part makes a compelling case for using European-style roundabout intersections as a means to reduce overall vehicle crashes, including fire truck crashes.
