Subject: Hatch opposition to proposed expansion of Clean Water Act authorities
Date: Fri May 16 20:17:09 MDT 2014

Just a quick note to let you know that Senator Hatch recently joined with Senator Barrasso and 44 other members of the Senate and House Western Caucuses in sending the attached letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy expressing opposition to the recently proposed expansion of Clean Water Act (CWA) authorities.

If this proposed “Waters of the U.S.” (WOTUS) rule is finalized it will have a significant negative effect on property rights. Impacts would be felt by farmers, small businesses, energy producers, commercial developers and many others. Senator Hatch strongly disagrees with this expansion of federal authority and urges EPA to consult with state and local governments, and other stakeholders before developing such burdensome regulations.
