U.S. and Uruguay sign customs mutual assistance agreement



The U.S. has signed a Customs Mutual Assistance Agreement (CMAA) with Uruguay, marking a significant milestone in collaboration between the two countries, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). CBP Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske signed the agreement on behalf of CBP and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sr. Luis Almagro signed the agreement on behalf of Uruguay. The bilateral agreement is a tool for the U.S. and Uruguay's respective customs administrations to prevent, repress, and investigate customs offenses.  More 

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), of Arlington, VA, along with several of America's most recognized retail brands, has launched the Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center (R-CISC). The R-CISC is an independent organization, the centerpiece of which is a Retail Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Retail-ISAC). Among those companies participating with and supportive of the R-CISC are American Eagle Outfitters, Gap Inc., J.C. Penney Company Inc., Lowe's Companies, Inc., Nike, Inc., Safeway, Inc., Target Corporation, VF Corporation and Walgreen Company.  More

Chantilly, VA-based Agilex, a provider of mission and technology solutions to the federal government, has been awarded a competitive contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to develop and implement VA's enterprise Web and Mobile Application Image Viewing Solution. Agilex will build upon Calgary Scientific's ResolutionMD enterprise image viewer to provide VA clinicians nationally with secure, on-demand access to radiological images across a variety of mobile and desktop devices. The solution will help VA improve care by accelerating and improving diagnosis and treatment, strengthening collaboration, and expanding telehealth options.  More 


Toronto-based PerfectCloud, a provider of enterprise, cloud and mobile security solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with GOVonomy, the nation's first emerging and growth technology products marketplace for the public sector. Starting today, PerfectCloud is offering its SmartSignin cloud security solution to public-sector agencies that purchase other cloud solutions through the GOVonomy marketplace.  More    

Firefighters wear protective gloves called "structure gloves" to keep their hands safe on the job. The protective equipment firefighters wear -- including structure gloves -- give them the confidence to focus on putting out fires and saving lives. The structure gloves currently used by firefighters, however, are not designed for the precision movements first responders must perform, according to Responder Technologies, a division within the U.S. DHS's Science and Technology Directorate (S&T).  More 


Rochelle Park, NJ-based ORBCOMM, a global provider of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solutions, has announced that its partner, Savi Technology (Savi), has been awarded a five-year U.S. DoD contract as the sole provider to the $204 million RFID-IV program, which currently has a $102 million ceiling. The RFID-IV program offers a wide range of technology solutions, including newly-upgraded Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), satellite-based Enhanced In-Transit Visibility (EITV) and Advanced Intrusion Tracking Detection (ATID) products and services, to a wide range of government customers for global asset planning and tracking of personnel, equipment, and sustainment cargo worldwide.  More
