Subject: RE: New GRAMA Request (2) - From CMD - March 28, 2014
Date: Thu Apr 10 17:38:33 MDT 2014
I am emailing to follow up on the below GRAMA Request. I have found no records responsive to this specific request.
If you have any questions, let me know.
I am emailing regarding the latest GRAMA request I received.
It asks for records pertaining to ALEC via the website “box.com”. The request states that “It is understood that the website “box.com” has been the primary method used by ALEC for delivering task force materials, board materials and other documents since 2012”.
If you have used box.com in relation to materials from ALEC for any legislative business since 2012, please let me know and send me those records.
The other portion of the request asks for all records pertaining to the upcoming ALEC conference, task force meetings, and board meetings, taking place in Kansas City, MO between May 1-2, 2014.
I will be searching for those records and if I find anything that pertains to the request, I will let you know.
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.
The entirety of the request is below, for your information.
The following request is for records in the possession of all members of the Republican caucus and their staff, with the exception of Senators Niederhauser and Bramble and their staff.
Please let me know if anything here is unclear or if I can help in any way.

Pursuant to the Utah state open records act, I formally request access to and a copy of the following records:
1. All records pertaining to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) or its related organizations, including but not limited to the "Jeffersonian Project”, which are accessible to you or your staff via the website “box.com. “ This request includes any task force materials, tracking documents, board materials, state chair materials and any and all other records.
[Note- It is understood that the website “box.com” has been the primary method used by ALEC for delivering task force materials, board materials and other documents since 2012. Once an email invitation to view a document at box.com is clicked, that file is added to a person’s files at box.com and becomes a public record. This request should include all materials available to the named persons in this request via the box.com website.]
2. All records pertaining to the upcoming ALEC conference, task force meetings, and board meetings, taking place in Kansas City, MO between May 1-2, 2014.
The scope of this request includes yourself, as well as all staff that report to you. Please note that this request includes a search of all emails sent or received on official state email accounts, as well as any other email accounts that have been used for official business.
The Center for Media & Democracy is a non-profit public-interest organization, and the disclosure of the materials requested here would be in the public interest, greatly benefiting public understanding of the workings of government. As such a waiver of any fees is requested. If the waiver is not granted, we agree to pay any reasonable copying and postage fees of not more than $20. If the cost would be greater than this amount, please notify us.
Please provide a receipt indicating the charges for each document.
If my request is denied in whole or part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act.
I would be very happy to discuss this request if any part of this is unclear.
Thank you for your assistance.
