I am writing to encourage you to vote YES on HB81. Previously there has been inadequate oversight of the new SAGE (Common Core) tests. Despite vendor  recommendations only one committee of 15 parents (100 were recommended) was allowed to participate in the review process.  HB81 would be open to any parent who is willing to participate, who is willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Despite parents finding many questions objectionable few were dropped or changed.  Parents were not informed as to which questions were changed or dropped. This nondisclosure raises suspicions about the integrity of the test and leads parents to distrust the state school board and its intentions!   HB 81 will protect test integrity via the current USOE secure review process.  Please pass HB 81 out of committee.  May I remind you that parents have the Constitutionally-protected right and duty to exercise primary control over the care, supervision, upbringing, and education of their children (Utah Code Section 62A-4a-201).  What the state does should be coordinated and approved by parents!

Thank you for taking time to read this email.  Please vote yes on HB81.
