Subject: I Urge You to Vote Yes on HB96!

Feb 10, 2014 Representative David Lifferth State Capitol, Suite 350 350 North State Street Salt Lake City, UT 84114 Dear Representative Lifferth, I am writing to ask that you support school readiness and vote YES on HB96. High quality preschool has been shown repeatedly in studies to improve the outcomes for children - especially those who are at risk. Statistics suggests that any money that goes toward a program that supports young children will be made up for in reduced costs for rehabilitation or for social support at a later period in that child's life. The government already recognized that preventative programs have better outcomes and are more cost effective than are those aimed at correcting social problems. It is the same idea already endorsed by the Pell grant - a more educated person is going to be more productive and better able to function in society. Since preschool years are so critical in the development process, and so predictive of future success, it makes no sense to withhold funding at this point in a child's life. Please vote yes for this bill that is so important to our future generations. Sincerely, Ms. Shairylann Lisonbee 359 E Kensington Ave Salt Lake City, UT 84115-1717
