Please do not eliminate the October 1 headcount for charter schools.

We need to look at the success of our Charter Schools and ask ourselves:  “Do we really want to sacrifice the extra success our Charter Schools are having?”  Eliminating this count will severely impair the funding and performance of our Charter Schools.

When we consider the alacrity with which our Charter School students perform academic tasks, how could we possibly be so penurious as to eliminate the headcount?

In our instruction, goals, and planning for students as teachers we are asking ourselves:  “What is best for the students?”  In a global area where our nation is falling behind other countries in academic achievement:   “How is this elimination going to help our students achieve?”

It seems to me that most of the problem that District Schools face is too many political loopholes that schools have to jump through to get anything accomplished.  Charter Schools are able to make changes quickly and effectively.  Eliminating the teacher union, and downsizing the power of District Administrations, while at the same time empowering your individual public schools in Districts--this is the change that you need in Education in Utah.  The rest is merely a malaise of educational health due to power-hungry or ill-experienced individuals at the top.

Ask the administration of Charter Schools what they feel is best.  With the funding provided by the October headcount, we are able to accomplish so much more.

Let’s juxtapose alternate ideas and not be presumptuous about such a change.
