Representative Lifferth,
We have recently come to know that Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee is considering to remove the October 1st count day funding model for charter schools and replace it with the ADM plus growth model. As we all are aware, Utah is the least spending on education per students in the Nation and Charter schools are getting a considerable less amount of dollars per student than the districts. Charter schools of average and small sizes will be affected with this change adversely. We are small size schools and already struggling financially to operate and this change will make it even harder for choice schools like ours who are serving primarily low-income families and students with the special needs.
We will appreciate if you can help charter schools like ours by keeping the October 1st count day funding model.
