Dear Members of the Utah House Education Committee,

I am writing as a concerned parent and public school teacher in the state of Utah.  I am employed at Neil Armstrong Academy in Granite School District, and live in Sandy, UT.  My eldest is a graduate of Utah's public schools and my youngest is currently at Jordan High.

I truly feel that funding for public charter schools must be made transparent to the public and HB 193 will do just that by having a separate tax to go just to the charter schools.  Please support this bill.  Conversely, SB 38 would divert more money away from the public schools and give it to public charters without the transparency that is warranted in these instances.

We can barely fund education as it is, and when children return to my classroom from the charter schools, the money doesn't follow them, but stays with the charter.  Also, I am tired of, and so is my family, spending my own personal funds to support the education of Utah's many children.

Please make funding transparent and fair for all.

Thanks for your time.
