Brent Pendleton 3528 W 2600 N Ogden, UT 84404 June 23, 2015 The Honorable David Lifferth 350 North State Street, Suite 350 Salt Lake City, UT 84114 Dear Representative Lifferth, I write today respectfully urging you to vote "no" on Medicaid Expansion in Utah. Expanding Medicaid is a risky proposal that Utah just can't afford. While the promise of free funding from the federal government sounds nice, it's far from guaranteed. And if Congress ever decides to cut back, it could force Utah into raising taxes, cutting funding to education, or both! It's just not a risk I am willing to take. Other states have tried these risky Medicaid Expansion plans and now they are paying the price. Illinois, Ohio, Arkansas and more are all facing serious budget problems after their plans to expand Medicaid went way over budget. Not to mention that all of these plans will increase the national debt our children and grandchildren will have to pay back for generations. Utah just can't afford to take the same chance. Sincerely, Brent Pendleton
