Please vote YES on SB 104, for partisan school board elections, and NO on HB 305, HJR 16, HB 297, HB 342, and HB 186.

The current system for electing state school board members is broken. As you know, the school board candidates are chosen by the governor. This has resulted in education policy including Common Core, SAGE testing, and massive student data mining. Our children deserve so much more. They deserve a shot at a decent education. They deserve privacy. I have let a lot of things go as a regular citizen of this state, but I can't allow the collapse of education to go without a fight. The actions, decisions, and power of Governor Herbert are THE PRIMARY cause of this collapse. He can not be allowed to keep this power. I am begging you to open your heart and remember the 600,000 school children of Utah. You represent them. Their parents hired you. You are their only voice. It's time to vote your conscience.

SB 104 will return accountability to the people of Utah by having our state school board candidates elected in the same way that candidates for senator, representative, attorney general, etc. are elected. It makes good sense and is the solution to put the power back in the hands of the people, where it belongs.

Very sincerely,

Jennifer Payne
