Subject: OPPOSE Funding Change for Charter Schools
Date: Sat Feb 14 23:07:26 MST 2015
Dear Representatives, State School Board Members, and members of the Public Education Appropriation Subcommittee,
I am the parent of children attending public school in Provo. I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed requirement that local school boards to pay 50% of the cost of educating charter school students.
Ninety percent of students in Utah attend traditional public schools. Yet this recommendation would require the Provo School Board to either channel money away from those schools or raise taxes. While charter schools have a place in public education and require funding, this proposal requires local boards to tax citizens to pay for schools over which they have no oversight or control.
Please OPPOSE this recommendation.
