Dear Utah Legislator,

Our nonprofit organization, the Men of Justice and Compassion Association or MOJAC asks your help in pointing us to Utah governmental agencies for funding. Perhaps you could forward this email to a major Salt Lake sponsor who maybe interested in helping raise awareness to Animal Cruelty, Child Abuse, and Sexual Assault. We have asked former Utah Ute and current Kansas City Chief, Alex Smith, to come to Utah to give a speech on Building Better Men for a Better Utah. Consider these headlines from the January 18, 2014 edition of the Salt Lake Tribune:

  • “Esar Met is found guilty of kidnapping, sexually assaulting, and killing Hser Ner Moo, 7, in 2008”
  • Cop apparently killed his family (5 individuals), self” including Mother-in-law”
  • “Man found guilty in ’11 murder case.”
  • “Midvale husband charged in wife’s death.”

Those were the headlines in just one edition of the paper last Saturday, January 18, 2014.  I am sure that similar things are reported in your home state of New York.  The point being is that the Men of Justice and Compassion Association, a 501 (c) 3 corporation, need help in raising funds for our upcoming Triple Threat April in June events. April is Animal Cruelty, Child Abuse, and Sexual Assault awareness month.  We will help raise money for the Humane Society of Utah, Prevent Child Abuse Utah and the Utah Coalition against Sexual Assault.

We were not able to get Mr. Smith in April so we postponed those activities until June.  When it comes to those 3 social conditions, men are mostly the culprits or perpetrators in those crimes.  Our organization would like to bring focal attention on male perpetration and how concerned Utah citizens could be mobilized to help combat male crime and deviance.  With that said, we are having our 2nd Annual STALK WALK at the State Capitol on Saturday, January 25, 2014.  You should be able to see this event listed on the Capitol schedule for this month. January is National Stalking Awareness Month.  Even though, legislators may not be able to get involved in social activism due to legislative conflicts, you can certainly recommend to your families and friends to come and support our Stalking awareness cause.  Help MOJAC get at least 100 band walking caravan to get passersby wondering what is going on at the Capitol.  Stalking is a huge problem in our state and we need to collectively address this problem as concerned citizens. Do you agree?

Expeditiously yours,

Lee Johnson
