To the Utah House Rule and Leadership Committee:

My name is Nick Teynor. I am concerned and frustrated citizen writing to you to urge your support of House Bill 37. H.B. 37 is the Stream Access Compromise Bill being sponsered by Rep. Dixon Pitcher, and it will effectively solve the issue of Public Water being taken away from the public, while respecting the rights of land owners who live along said public waterways.
This bill will not only allow the public, myself, family, friends, and my clients access to the waterways our tax dollars go towards improving and maintaining, but provide a way for me to support my family. I am a fly-fishing guide when I am not a teacher. My guiding business has been severly damaged by previous stream access legislation, and many of my long time clients will not come back to Utah to recreate and fish because they feel "unwelcome", and would rather vacation and fish in a state that allows them the freedom to do so.
Were you aware that recreational fishing brings in over 856 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR to our state? Nearly 3/4 the amount that Skiing does. That is a fact. This issue is not only important to me, but to all of the current and future generations that call Utah home. I want my kids to live in a place where it is ok to enjoy, love, and respect the outdoors, and NOT have to pay hundred of thousands of dollars to do so. Don't take that away from them. Don't take that away from thousands of other kids. Thank you for your time.
