Date: Sat Feb 22 21:22:56 MST 2014
Ladies and Gentlemen,

As members of the House Education Committee you will soon be reviewing and considering the above referenced bill which deals with the process for selecting
members of the Utah State Board of Education.  As the process now stands, the SBOE has a monopoly on all primary and secondary education AND the first right
of refusal for anyone who would like to serve on that Board.  This in essence assures the SBOE that no one will serve with them without their approval.

In a state where the education of children is declared to be the primary responsibility of parents, this process removes parents from the process of selecting who will
serve on the State Board of Education.
This situation must be resolved now.  Those who serve on the State Board of Education must be made accountable to parents
and voters, and this can only happen through a direct election process, without the existing Board's interference

Please vote YES to move HB228 to the floor of the House for a full vote, and support it there as well.

Thank you.
