Dear Representative:

I urge you to support HB112 Substitute 3 “Regulation of Electronic Cigarettes.”  I am a healthcare provider.  HB112 Substitute 3 is about protecting children from e-cigarette use and allows the Utah Dept of Health and local health departments to enforce product standards and to identify retailers who sell e-cigarettes to Utah children.  E-cigarettes are designed, flavored, and marketed to appeal to our children.  These products also have widely varying levels of nicotine and other toxins due to poor quality control.

Amendments or substitutes that attempt to strip the state and local health departments ability to enforce product standards and identify retailers are the Tobacco Industry's attempts to target Utah children.  The Tobacco Industry spends $33 million a year in Utah to market deadly products to Utah children.

Please vote YES on HB 112 Substitute 3 and reject substitutes that hamstring state and local health departments in preventing underage sales and unsafe products with poor quality control from falling into the hands of Utah children.
