Representative, Sanpei I am highly concerned with SB0112S01 gamefowl fighting amendments. My concerns are that of the forfeiture of property, a class A misdemeanor, then a felony, we can't own gamecocks, etc.... This bill goes against several of our constitutional rights such as "the right to peacefully assemble, the right to keep and bear arms, there shall be no unreasonable searches and seizures and the greatest of all the 14th amendment, "the equal protection clause". Furthermore our property rights which state: we have the right to use the good, we have the right to harvest the good, we have the right to use the good commercially and we have the right of enforcement of our property rights. All our rights are at stake with this bill! To take ones property and destroy it all for the sake of an animal that this country kills more than 13,000,000 a day of is quite barbaric in itself. If a cocker is caught they take all his belongings at the fights such as his/her chickens, cars, boxes, etc....prosecute him, then he looses all his gamecocks that are irreplaceable and have been in his family for generations, the HSUS kills them all and are not felons. This man/women then is sent to prison or jail barred as a criminal, put in a place that holds murderers, rapist, child molesters, drug dealers and gang members and his/her life put in real jeopardy all for the sake of a chicken. At the end of the day his family starves, has no vehicle, no money, no husband and sometimes their kids sent to foster care. "Huh?" In the commercial poultry industries it is legal to remove the feet and beaks of chickens without numbing, so that they do not fight. Also to put thousands all in the same place, which in turn causes lung burn, heart burn and knee burn do to all the manure on the ground, which in turn prolongs death and makes suffer. The reason this practice is legal is because chickens are exempt from the Humane Slaughter Act of 1958 which means they do not need stunning before they are slaughtered, this act was upheld in federal court as resent as 2008. Gamecocks live a life of luxury, something compared to a highly prized race horse. Gamecocks are given four by eight pens all to their self or placed on string walks that carry an eight foot radius on fresh grass. They are also wormed, deloused and given vitamins on a regular basis such as with say a racehorse, team roping horse, PBR bulls, etc.... Cockfighting is a 6000 year old sport, that was practiced by kings, presidents, governors, mayors, senators and just everyday citizens, it only became against the law as resent as 2008 in the U.S. There is no difference between hunting/trapping and cockfighting it is passed down from generations to generations and so on. If the government were to take away hunting today the very same rights taken from cockfighters would be the very same rights taken from hunters. Furthermore if our legislature was bound by law to uphold our constitution such as the equal protection clause, cockfighting would still be in its rightful place (LEGAL), because of heritage & tradition. Falconry is a protected event because of heritage and tradition & for every right it should be, this sport has no economic value it is clearly just for pleasure. When the falcon takes down it's prey it is not aloud to kill only to torture or wound, because if the falcon is aloud to kill it, then he has no use for the falconer. It is obvious that cockfighting is just a matter of taste, when things like the treatment of commercial poultry, trapping, hunting, falconry, racehorses, rodeo are legally protected. The HSUS says cockfighting is a blood sport, but so is football, boxing, MMA and wrestling and these sports are legal and involve human life. Gamecocks fight to the death naturally with or without human interference, they are their own strain of fowl. To say this sport has no economic value is just stupidity and ignorance, when legal in Oklahoma cockfighting brought in $113,000,000 annually every year and should be regulated and legalized such as hunting. Gene Davis and Johnny Anderson say that cockfighting should be a felony because it supposedly brings in drugs, prostitution, gun running, under age drinking and violence. These are reckless statements for a senator and representative to say without any documented proof, it is clear they are being prejudice and using defamation to its fullest extent. If you want to see this as a reality keep pushing it farther under ground and in the shadows. This All to help the HSUS with there agenda of "no more animal use". The HSUS is a huge organization targeting a minority group of people but who are no less important to this country's historic value. Furthermore I believe the HSUS has out lived its usefulness, when only "1" Pennie for every dollar goes to actual animal shelters, the rest goes to lobbyist to help pass their a agenda. The governor of Louisiana put an investigation towards the HSUS after hurricane Katrina hit because of all the donations and not one animal shelter was getting any money. Then and only then did the HSUS give money to the animal shelters. At the end of the day our government is saying it is perfectly legal to kill baby's and God forbid you have gamecocks & let them do what they were indented for. In 2011, approximately 1.06 million abortions took place in the U.S., down from an estimated 1.21 million abortions in 2008, 1.29 million in 2002, 1.31 million in 2000 and 1.36 million in 1996. From 1973 through 2011, nearly 53 million legal abortions have occurred in the U.S. (AGI). I ask that you our representatives use reason and your heart & ask yourself "can I justifiably put men and women in prison their children into foster care, for something I know nothing about, or should I respect our differences and opinions on ones way of life & not burden our judaical system with miner things such as this." As long as the almighty can permit intelligent men made in his image and likeness to kill each other openly and the world looks on approvingly who are the HSUS, Gene Davis & Johnny Anderson to deprive the gamecock of the same thing. Thank you for your time and concern on this subject, Joshua Christensen my iPhone
