To Our Legislators:

Whereas this may sound like a great idea, it is not. It is very dangerous to our liberty. When a constitutional convention is called it is not limited to the issue that brought it forth. The delegates to this balanced budget amendment
convention may propose any amendments to the Constitution or scrap the whole thing just like our Founding Fathers did when they were sent to Philadelphia to amend the Articles of Confederation and brought forth our current
Constitution. We do not have enough true statesmen now, nor do we have the same type of conservative, religious, and informed populous as they did back then. It truly was a miracle that the Constitution was put forth from Philadelphia
and the people ratified it. I and many others who can see the big picture warn that a constitutional convention in our day would be disastrous. The best way to amend the constitution is for the people in the States to pressure their Senators
and Representatives in Congress to propose a balanced budget amendment and pass it. Then the states could ratify it. This is the only safe way to accomplish these ends as it limits the amendment to exactly what is being proposed. Even
though this will be  a difficult task to accomplish, it is the only reasonable and safe method to protect our Constitution in our present political climate.
