Subject: Please PASS HB 228 on Education Elections
Date: Mon Feb 24 02:50:34 MST 2014

Dear Representative,

I am writing to ask that you please vote to Pass HB 228 out of committee. I support this bill because right now there is no way for parents to really gain representation on the state school board under the present system. The Governor's selection committee has proven that they cannot be impartial to views that differ from their own objectives, e.g. common core. Also, and slightly more importantly, there are only 15 state board members. That is half the number of state senators which means that these individuals represent TWICE the area of a senator, they likewise have a measure of control over half of the state's budget expenditures each year. With this much influence it is vital that the people in these positions accurately represent the will of the parents/teachers/ people when it comes to Education in Utah. Please pass HB 228 out of committee and give Utah parents the chance at proper and real representation.

Thank you for your time,

Claire B.
