Dear House Education Committee Members,

Please support moving HB 228 on for consideration to the entire House of Representatives. The state school board currently enjoys a higher degree of insulation from public accountability than is healthy in representative government. This has led to citizens experiencing an attitude of impervious indifference coming from an entity that should have to face those citizens regularly in elections. The feedback you are receiving from parents who continue to uncover the rotten core of Common Core that has been thrust upon Utah is, in large part, due to that insulation. If public education is to remain in the hands of the taxpayers who fund the schools, this legislation seems like a step toward better accountability.

Thank you.
