Week Without Violence
October 13 to 19 is Week Without Violence, an annual campaign designed to increase awareness, create dialogue, and offer solutions to violence in our homes and our communities.
Earlier this week we planted 495 daffodils in honor of victims of gun violence at the new Public Safety Building, planted 3,125 white flags at the Smith's Food and Drug Store in Murray (shown left), representing each person in Utah who was sheltered in a domestic violence shelter in 2012, and had a peaceful story hour at The King's English.
Join us for the Race Against Violence 5K at Popperton Park (11th Avenue and Virginia Street) tomorrow morning to finish off the week. Day of registration begins at 8:00 AM
Saturday, October 19 at 8:00 AM
Race Against Violence 5K, 1 mile fun run and 1K kids' Chase the Chief run.
It's Time to Pass the Purse for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Allstate Foundation selected YWCA Utah as one of 30 local YWCAs across the country to be part of Purple Purse, the Foundation's national campaign to get people talking about domestic violence. One in four women are affected by domestic violence in their lifetime; help start a conversation by passing a purse.

Each time a purse is "passed" and checked in at, Allstate gives the YWCA $5 (up to $10,000)!

All you need to do is visit and enter code 01258.

Thanks for helping the YWCA receive this grant from Allstate!

Thank You for Helping Make LeaderLuncheon a Success!

A big thank you to our sponsors, staff, volunteers and all others who helped make the 25th Anniversary LeaderLuncheon the most successful one yet. It was a pleasure to welcome the wonderful Anita Hill to Utah and honor seven women for their achievements and service.

Thanks to you, over $450,000 was raised for the YWCA's life-changing programs for women and children. The day of the event, attendees generously donated over $90,000 towards the generous match from our CIRCLE of Women. Thank you.

Watch for information on the 2014 LeaderLuncheon in coming months.
