States Innovations in Juvenile Justice:

Investing in Better Outcomes for Our Communities

Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Administrator, Robert Listenbee, will have his first opportunity to address congressional staff on juvenile justice Tuesday, July 30, during a Congressional briefing hosted by Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) to be  held at the Capitol Visitors Center in Washington, D.C. from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Connecticut's juvenile justice successes have been chronicled in two reports authored this year by the Justice Policy Institute. The reports, Common Ground and Juvenile Justice Reform in Connecticut, highlight the state's effectiveness in reducing youth confinement and cross-systems collaboration that's resulted in improved public safety and youth outcomes overall.

Tuesday's briefing is a first step in educating key staff on juvenile justice reform and the strides states are making and have made across the country over the last several years.

Experts from Connecticut, Texas, and Ohio will detail how their states have led the way in recent years by adopting bipartisan approaches with great success.  Not only have these states saved millions of dollars in wasteful spending and cut back on harmful, ineffective policies, but they have improved outcomes for children while keeping communities safe.  By reinvesting funds back into programs proven to work, states can grow even more savings by helping children become productive adults.

To attend the briefing guests MUST RSVP by C.O.B. Friday July 26th to  be included on the visitor's list.
