5/7/20255/6/2026Concealed firearm permit -- Fees -- Concealed Weapons Account.An applicant for a concealed firearm permit shall pay:before July 1, 2026, a fee of $25 at the time of filing an application; andon or after July 1, 2026, a fee set by the bureau at the time of filing an application.A nonresident applicant shall pay:before July 1, 2026, an additional $35 fee; andon or after July 1, 2026, an additional fee set by the bureau.The bureau shall waive the initial fee for an applicant who is:a law enforcement officer under Section 53-13-103;an active duty service member;the spouse of an active duty service member; ora school employee.A holder of a concealed firearm permit shall pay:before July 1, 2026, $20 for a renewal fee for the permit; andon or after July 1, 2026, a renewal fee set by the bureau. A nonresident holder of a concealed firearm permit shall pay:before July 1, 2026, an additional $30 fee; andon or after July 1, 2026, an additional fee set by the bureau.If a holder of a concealed firearm permit needs a replacement concealed firearm permit, the holder shall pay:before July 1, 2026, a $10 replacement fee for the permit; andon or after July 1, 2026, a replacement fee set by the bureau.The late fee for the renewal permit is:before July 1, 2026, $7.50; andon or after July 1, 2026, a late fee set by the bureau.As used in this section, "late fee" means the fee charged by the bureau for a renewal submitted on a permit that has been expired for more than 30 days but less than one year.There is created a restricted account within the General Fund known as the "Concealed Weapons Account."The account shall be funded from fees collected under this section and Section 53-5a-308.Funds in the account may only be used to cover costs relating to:the issuance of concealed firearm permits under this part; orthe programs described in Subsection 26B-5-102(3) and Section 26B-5-611.No later than 90 days after the end of the fiscal year, 50% of the excess of revenues over expenditures for the fiscal year shall be transferred to the Suicide Prevention and Education Fund, created in Section 26B-1-326.The bureau may collect any fees charged by an outside agency for additional services required by statute as a prerequisite for issuance of a permit.The bureau shall promptly forward any fees collected under Subsection (6)(a) to the appropriate agency.The bureau shall make an annual report in writing to the Legislature's Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee on the amount and use of the fees collected under this section and Section 53-5-707.5.
