5/6/2026Amended by Chapter 243, 2026 General Session2026Concealed firearm permit -- Fees -- Concealed Weapons Account.An applicant for a concealed firearm permit shall pay:before July 1, 2026, a fee of $25 at the time of filing an application; andon or after July 1, 2026, a fee set by the bureau at the time of filing an application.A nonresident applicant shall pay:before July 1, 2026, an additional $35 fee; andon or after July 1, 2026, an additional fee set by the bureau.The bureau shall waive the initial fee for an applicant who is:a law enforcement officer under Section 53-13-103;an active duty service member;the spouse of an active duty service member; ora school employee.A holder of a concealed firearm permit shall pay:before July 1, 2026, $20 for a renewal fee for the permit; andon or after July 1, 2026, a renewal fee set by the bureau. A nonresident holder of a concealed firearm permit shall pay:before July 1, 2026, an additional $30 fee; andon or after July 1, 2026, an additional fee set by the bureau.If a holder of a concealed firearm permit needs a replacement concealed firearm permit, the holder shall pay:before July 1, 2026, a $10 replacement fee for the permit; andon or after July 1, 2026, a replacement fee set by the bureau.The late fee for the renewal permit is:before July 1, 2026, $7.50; andon or after July 1, 2026, a late fee set by the bureau.As used in this section, "late fee" means the fee charged by the bureau for a renewal submitted on a permit that has been expired for more than 30 days but less than one year.There is created a restricted account within the General Fund known as the "Concealed Weapons Account."The account shall be funded from fees collected under this section and Section 53-5a-308.Funds in the account may only be used to cover costs relating to:the issuance of concealed firearm permits under this part; orthe programs described in Subsection 26B-5-102(3) and Section 26B-5-611.No later than 90 days after the end of the fiscal year, 50% of the excess of revenues over expenditures for the fiscal year shall be transferred to the Suicide Prevention and Education Fund, created in Section 26B-1-326.The bureau may collect any fees charged by an outside agency for additional services required by statute as a prerequisite for issuance of a permit.The bureau shall promptly forward any fees collected under Subsection (6)(a) to the appropriate agency.
