MARITAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AMENDMENTS
2 1997 GENERAL SESSION
3 STATE OF UTAH
4 Sponsor: Afton B. Bradshaw
5 AN ACT RELATING TO HUSBAND AND WIFE, PROPERTY RIGHTS PROVISIONS;
6 REPEALING MARRIED WOMEN'S PROPERTY RIGHTS PROVISION; AND PROVIDING
7 AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
8 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
9 REPEALS:
10 30-2-1, Utah Code Annotated 1953
11 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
12 Section 1. Repealer.
13 This act repeals:
14 Section 30-2-1, Wife's rights in property -- Liability for husband's debts.
15 Section 2. Effective date.
16 This act takes effect on January 1, 1999, but only if the amendment of Utah Constitution,
17 Article XXII, Section 2, Resolution Repealing Provisions on Property Rights of Married Women,
18 H.J.R. 8, is passed by the Legislature and approved by the electorate.
