5    AN ACT RELATING TO APPROPRIATIONS; APPROPRIATING $3,750,000 FROM THE
6    GENERAL FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR 1997-98 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF
7    TRANSPORTATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN PEDESTRIAN
8    OVERPASS STRUCTURES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
9    This act enacts uncodified material.
10    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
11        Section 1. Appropriation.
12        (1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1997-98, $3,750,000 to the
13    Department of Transportation.
14        (2) It is the intent of the Legislature that this appropriation shall be used for the
15    construction of pedestrian overpass structures or other pedestrian safety measures, including
16    lighting and warning signs on Bangerter Highway at or near its intersections with 3100 South,
17    3500 South, 4100 South, 4700 South, and 5400 South.
18        (3) The money appropriated in Subsection (1) is nonlapsing.
19        Section 2. Effective date.
20        This act takes effect on July 1, 1997.
