APPROPRIATION FOR STATEWIDE
2 INTEGRATION OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION
3 1997 GENERAL SESSION

6 AN ACT RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; PROVIDING A $1,000,000
7 APPROPRIATION TO STRENGTHEN THE INTEGRATION OF ENGINEERING AND
8 PREENGINEERING PROGRAMS AT THE STATE'S NINE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER
9 EDUCATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
10 This act enacts uncodified material.
11 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
12 Section 1. Appropriation.
13 (1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1997-98 $1,000,000 to the
14 State Board of Regents for a one-time appropriation to strengthen the statewide integration of
15 engineering and preengineering programs at the state's nine institutions of higher education.
16 (2) The board shall distribute the money as follows:
17 (a) $280,000 to the University of Utah;
18 (b) $190,000 to Utah State University;
19 (c) $130,000 to Weber State University;
20 (d) $100, 000 to Salt Lake Community College;
21 (e) $100, 000 to Utah Valley State College;
22 (f) $50,000 to College of Eastern Utah;
23 (g) $50,000 to Dixie College;
24 (h) $50,000 to Snow College; and
25 (i) $50,000 to Southern Utah University.
26 Section 2. Effective date.
27 This act takes effect on July 1, 1997.
