5    AN ACT RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; APPROPRIATING $800,000 FOR FISCAL
6    YEAR 1998-99 TO THE STATE BOARD OF REGENTS FOR ADULT
7    APPRENTICESHIP-RELATED INSTRUCTION PROGRAMS; AND PROVIDING AN
8    EFFECTIVE DATE.
9    This act enacts uncodified material.
10    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
11        Section 1. Appropriation.
12        (1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1998-99, $800,000 to the
13    State Board of Regents for adult apprenticeship-related instruction programs at the state's nine
14    institutions of higher education to:
15        (a) coordinate essential training programs designed to provide highly skilled workers
16    throughout the state which are needed by the crafts and trades industry and consumers;
17        (b) coordinate the development and distribution of statewide articulated curriculum within
18    23 subject areas; and
19        (c) coordinate the development and distribution of the articulated curriculum needed in
20    rural locations throughout the state using distance learning delivery systems.
21        (2) It is the intent of the Legislature that this appropriation be ongoing.
22        (3) The funds shall be distributed based on a formula driven by annualized apprenticeship
23    full-time enrollments.
24        Section 2. Effective date.
25        This act takes effect on July 1, 1998.
