5 This act appropriates S [
5a Museum Services
6 for enhancement of museums within the state. The act takes effect on July 1, 2001.
7 This act enacts uncodified material.
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
9 Section 1. Intent.
10 Recognizing the state's commitment to public education, the Legislature finds that
11 museums are a primary source of information for public education and that public education is
12 enhanced through the use of museum resources, site visits, and tours. It is the intent of the
13 Legislature in appropriating these funds to provide support to the Office of Museum Services for
14 enhancement of museums within the state. It is the intent of the Legislature that this appropriation
15 shall be used for:
16 (1) grants to local h [
17 (2) enhancement of educational outreach programs;
18 (3) expansion of elementary and middle school outreach programs; and
19 (4) activities enhancing creation, preservation, and display of historical and educational
20 artifacts and materials.
21 Section 2. Appropriation.

24 (2) Notwithstanding Subsection (1), $1,000,000 of the appropriation under Subsection (1)
25 is appropriated for fiscal year 2001-02 only
26 (3) These appropriations are nonlapsing.
27 Section 3. Effective date.
28 This act takes effect on July 1, 2001.
