RESOLUTION CLOSING DISTRICT COURT

                 
IN ROY

                 
2002 FIFTH SPECIAL SESSION

                 
STATE OF UTAH

                  A joint resolution of the Legislature approving the closure of the District Court within the
                  municipal boundaries of Roy City, Utah, and providing an effective date.
                  Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
                      WHEREAS, a circuit court was located within the municipal boundaries of Roy City, Utah
                  on and before January 1, 1994;
                      WHEREAS, Section 78-3-13.4 requires the Legislature to approve by joint resolution
                  removal of a district court from a municipality in which the district court or the circuit court
                  existed on January 1, 1994;
                      WHEREAS, the Utah Judicial Council and Roy City propose to close the Roy City location
                  of the district court; and
                      WHEREAS, this action is required to meet the proposal by the Office of the Legislative
                  Fiscal Analyst in order to balance the Utah state budget for the 2003 fiscal year:
                      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah
                  approves the closure of the district court within the municipal boundaries of Roy City, Utah.
                      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Utah Judicial
                  Council and Roy City.
                      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution takes effect no earlier than January 1,
                  2003, upon approval by a constitutional majority vote of all members of the Senate and House of
                  Representatives.
