Committee Chair Peterson called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m.
1. S.B. 188 Wildlife Resources Conservation Easement Restricted Account (Sen. D. Stowell)
Sen. Stowell introduced the bill. Mike Canning, Habitat Chief, Wildlife Resources; and Kevin Carter, Director, School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration, participated in the presentation.
MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to pass S.B. 188, Wildlife Resources Conservation Easement Restricted Account, out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis and Sen. Waddoups absent at the time of voting.
MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to place S. B. 188 on the Consent Calendar.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis and Sen. Waddoups absent at the time of voting.
2. H.J.R. 1 Joint Resolution Regarding Action on Groundwater in Snake Valley (Rep. R. Wheeler)
Rep. Richard Wheeler introduced the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Stowell moved to replace H.J.R. 1 with 1st Substitute H.J.R. 1.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis and Sen. Waddoups absent at the time of voting.
John Cooper, Millard County Commissioner; Terry Marasco, citizen, Snake Valley Citizens Alliance; and Todd Bingham, Vice President, Utah Farm Bureau, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Dayton moved to pass 1st Sub. H.J.R. 1, Joint Resolution Regarding Action on Groundwater in Snake Valley, out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent at the time of voting.
3. H.B. 72 Brand Inspection of Livestock Seized by the Federal Government (Rep. M. Noel)
Rep. Michael Noel introduced the bill. Kyle Stephens, Deputy Commissioner, Utah Division of Agriculture and Food, assisted in the presentation.
Todd Bingham, Vice President, Utah Farm Bureau, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen, Dayton moved to pass H.B. 72, Brand Inspection of Livestock Seized by the Federal Government, out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to adjourn.
