         PEDESTRIANS ON HIGHWAYS

House Committee Amendments

Representative Lee B. Perry proposes the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Lines 13 through 14 :    

             13          .    provides that a pedestrian may not walk along or on
{   a freeway or a limited access

             14      highway  
}
  certain highways       except during an emergency; and


2.    Page 2, Lines 47 through 48 :    

             47          (7)
{   A pedestrian may not walk along or on [a no access freeway facility] a freeway or a

             48      limited access highway except during an emergency.  
}
  Except during an emergency, a pedestrian may not walk along or on:

    (a) Interstate 15;
    (b) Interstate 70;
    (c) Interstate 80;
    (d) Interstate 84;
    (e) Interstate 215;
    (f) US 40 between its intersection with Interstate 80 and its intersection with SR-32;
    (g) US 89:
    (i) between its intersection with Interstate 15 in Farmington and its intersection with SR-273; and
    (ii) between its intersection with SR-193 and its intersection with Interstate 84 in Uintah;
    (h) SR-67, Legacy Parkway;
    (i) SR-92, Timpanogos Highway, commuter lanes between its intersection with Interstate 15 and its intersection with Highland Boulevard;
    (j) SR-154, Bangerter Highway;
    (k) SR-201 between its intersection with Interstate 15 and its intersection with Interstate 80;
    (l) access, exit and transition ramps, and collector roads associated with the highways or portions thereof listed in Subsections (7)(a) through (k); and
    (m) any highway or portion thereof under the control of the Department of Transportation upon which the Department of Transportation has posted appropriate signs giving notice that pedestrian travel on the highway or portion thereof is restricted.
