Chair Dayton called the meeting to order at 9:15 a.m.

Approval of Minutes

MOTION:    Sen. Van Tassell moved to approve the minutes of the February 22, 2013 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Shiozawa and Thatcher absent for the vote.

S.B. 221    Assessment Area Act Amendments (Sen. K. Van Tassell)

Sen. Van Tassell introduced and explained the bill.

MOTION:    Sen. Van Tassell moved to amend S.B. 221 as follows:

    1. Page 14, Line 426: After " person " insert " or institution "

        The motion passed unanimously.    

Spoke in favor of the bill:    Mr. Adam Trupp, Utah Association of Counties

MOTION:    Sen. Van Tassell moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.

S.B. 83    Limitations on Outside Employment by Government Employee (Sen. T. Weiler)

Sen. Weiler introduced and explained the bill.

MOTION:    Sen. Van Tassell moved to pass S.B. 83 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.

S.R. 1    Senate Resolution on Government Subsidies of Hotels (Sen. J. Valentine)

MOTION:    Sen. Van Tassell moved to amend S.R. 1 as follows:

    1. Page 3, Line 74:     After "the" delete "CVB"

        The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Sen. Thatcher moved to pass S.R. 1 out favorably. The motion passed with Sen. Robles voting in opposition and Sen. Van Tassell absent for the vote.

H.B. 113    County Governing Body Authority (Rep. S. Handy) (Sen. K. Van Tassell)

Rep. Handy introduced and explained the bill.

Spoke in favor of the bill:    Mr. L. Brent Gardner, Executive Director, Utah Association of Counties

MOTION:    Sen. Tatcher moved to pass H.B. 113 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Van Tassell absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Sen. Thatcher moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Van Tassell absent for the vote.

Chair Dayton adjourned the meeting at 8:44 a.m.
