8 General Description:
9 This bill requires the Governor's Office of Economic Development to hold a meeting on
10 daylight saving time.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . defines "daylight saving time";
14 . requires the Governor's Office of Economic Development to hold a meeting on
15 daylight saving time; and
16 . requires the Governor's Office of Economic Development to report on the meeting
17 to the Government Operations Interim Committee.

29 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
30 Section 1. Section 63I-2-263 is amended to read:
31 63I-2-263. Repeal dates, Title 63A to Title 63M.
32 (1) Section 63A-1-115 is repealed on July 1, 2014.
33 (2) Subsection 63J-1-218 (3) is repealed on December 1, 2013.
34 (3) Subsection 63J-1-218 (4) is repealed on December 1, 2013.
35 (4) Section 63M-1-206 is repealed on December 1, 2014.

37 Section 2. Section 63M-1-206 is enacted to read:
38 63M-1-206. Daylight saving time study.
39 (1) As used in this section, "daylight saving time" means the period during a year when
40 the observed time of day is advanced one hour according to the provisions of 15 U.S.C. Sec.
41 260a.
42 (2) The office shall:
43 (a) conduct a meeting to discuss the impacts of exempting Utah from daylight saving
44 time;
45 (b) invite parents, senior citizens, and representatives from the agricultural, public
46 education, recreation, and business communities to attend the meeting;
47 (c) compile comments and recommendations made at the meeting;
48 (d) publish a summary of the meeting; and
49 (e) report on the summary to the Government Operations Interim Committee no later
50 than November 1, 2014.
