Chair Edwards called the meeting to order at 8:17 a.m.
MOTION: Rep. Bird moved to approve the minutes of the February 18, 2014 meeting. The
motion passed unanimously with Rep. Menlove, Rep. Nelson, Rep. Hemingway, and Rep.
Wilson absent for the vote.
H.C.R. 9 Concurrent Resolution Recognizing the 20th Anniversary of the Utah
Commission on Service and Volunteerism (Rep. R. Spendlove)
Rep. Spendlove distributed a handout titled "U Serve Utah" and explained the resolution to the
committee assisted by LaDawn Stoddard, Executive Director, Utah Commission on Service and
Volunteerism.
MOTION: Rep. Bird moved to pass out favorably HCR 9. The motion passed unanimously
with Rep. Menlove, Rep. Romero, and Rep. Wilson absent for the vote.
H.B. 132 Temporary Homeless Youth Shelter Amendments (Rep. G. Froerer)
Rep. Froerer distributed a handout titled "HB132 Temporary Homeless Youth Shelter
Amendments" and explained the bill to the committee assisted by Charri Brummer, DCFS
Deputy Director; Rachel Peterson, PhD student at USU; and Robert Wesemann , Division
Director for Homeless Services, Volunteers of America.
MOTION: Rep. Romero moved to pass out favorably H.B. 132. The motion passed
unanimously with Rep. Menlove absent for the vote.
MOTION: Rep. Oda moved to place H.B. 132 on the Consent Calendar. The motion failed
with Rep. Last voting in favor and Rep. Menlove absent for the vote.
H.B. 345 Vending Services Operated by Blind Persons (Rep. R. Greenwood)
This bill was not heard.
H.C.R. 8 Concurrent Resolution Regarding Moving the State Prison (Rep. B. Wilson)
Rep. Wilson distributed a handout titled "Draper Prison Relocation" and explained the resolution
to the committee.
