8     LONG TITLE
9     General Description:
10          This bill reauthorizes the Rural Residency Training Program.
11     Highlighted Provisions:
12          This bill:
13          ▸     makes technical amendments to the Rural Residency Training Program; and
14          ▸     reauthorizes the Rural Residency Training Program until July 1, 2020.

25     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
26          Section 1. Section 53B-24-402 is amended to read:
27          53B-24-402. Rural residency training program.
28          (1) For purposes of this section:
29          (a) "Physician" means:

30          (i) a person licensed to practice medicine under Title 58, Chapter 67, Utah Medical
31     Practice Act or Title 58, Chapter 68, Utah Osteopathic Medical Practice Act; and
32          (ii) a person licensed to practice dentistry under Title 58, Chapter 69, Dentist and
33     Dental Hygienist Practice Act.
34          (b) "Rural residency training program" means an accredited clinical training program
35     as defined in Section 53B-24-102 which places a physician into a rural county for a part or all
36     of the physician's clinical training.
37          (2) (a) Subject to appropriations from the Legislature, the council shall establish a pilot
38     program to place physicians into rural residency training programs.
39          (b) The [pilot] program shall [begin July 1, 2005 and] sunset [July 1, 2015,] in
40     accordance with Section [63I-1-263] 63I-1-253.
41          Section 2. Section 63I-1-253 is amended to read:
42          63I-1-253. Repeal dates, Titles 53, 53A, and 53B.
43          The following provisions are repealed on the following dates:
44          (1) Section 53-3-232, Conditional license, is repealed July 1, 2015.
45          (2) Subsection 53-10-202(18) is repealed July 1, 2018.
46          (3) Section 53-10-202.1 is repealed July 1, 2018.
47          (4) Title 53A, Chapter 1a, Part 6, Public Education Job Enhancement Program is
48     repealed July 1, 2020.
49          (5) Title 53A, Chapter 11, Part 15, School Safety Tip Line, is repealed July 1, 2015.
50          (6) The State Instructional Materials Commission, created in Section 53A-14-101, is
51     repealed July 1, 2016.
52          (7) Subsections 53A-16-113(3) and (4) are repealed December 31, 2016.
53          (8) Section 53A-16-114 is repealed December 31, 2016.
54          (9) Section 53A-17a-163, Performance-based Compensation Pilot Program is repealed
55     July 1, 2016.
56          (10) Section 53B-24-402, Rural residency training program, is repealed July 1, [2015]
57     2020.

58          (11) Subsection 53C-3-203(4)(b)(vii), which provides for the distribution of money
59     from the Land Exchange Distribution Account to the Geological Survey for test wells, other
60     hydrologic studies, and air quality monitoring in the West Desert, is repealed July 1, 2020.
