13 LONG TITLE
14 General Description:
15 This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor recognizes the 50th
16 anniversary of the creation of the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
17 Highlighted Provisions:
18 This resolution:
19 ▸ recognizes the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Office of the State Fire
20 Marshal; and
21 ▸ expresses continued support for the Office of the State Fire Marshal's management
22 on behalf of its beneficiaries and recognizes its assistance to the state of Utah and its
23 municipalities.

27 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
28 WHEREAS, in 1963, the Legislature of the state of Utah, recognizing the need to
29 improve state fire prevention laws, passed House Bill 106, which created the Utah State Fire
30 Prevention Board and the Office of the State Fire Marshal;
31 WHEREAS, the Utah Fire Prevention Board and the appointed State Fire Marshal
32 fulfilled a legislative mandate by establishing a state fire code; and
33 WHEREAS, the Office of the State Fire Marshal has:
34 • established a firefighter training program at the Utah Technical College in Provo, an
35 institution that continues to thrive and provide training for all 268 career and volunteer fire
36 departments in Utah at Utah Valley University;
37 • established a State Fire Prevention Code that was approved by the Utah Fire
38 Prevention Board and enacted by the Legislature; and
39 • built relationships and supported fire departments throughout the state:
40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
41 Governor concurring therein, recognizes the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Office of
42 the State Fire Marshal.
43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor express
44 continued support for the Office of the State Fire Marshal's management on behalf of its
45 beneficiaries.
46 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor express support
47 for the assistance provided by the Office of the State Fire Marshal to local fire departments
48 with inspections, reviews, and fire investigations.
49 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Office of the
50 State Fire Marshal and the Utah Department of Public Safety.
