7     LONG TITLE
8     General Description:
9          This bill amends which state and judicial officers are liable for impeachment.
10     Highlighted Provisions:
11          This bill:
12          ▸     amends existing law to include justices of the peace as subject to impeachment for
13     high crimes and misdemeanors or malfeasance in office.

23     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24          Section 1. Section 77-5-1 is amended to read:
25          77-5-1. Officers liable to impeachment.
26          The governor and other state and judicial officers[, except justices of the peace,] shall
27     be liable to impeachment for high crimes and misdemeanors or malfeasance in office.
28          Section 2. Section 77-6-1 is amended to read:
29          77-6-1. Officers subject to removal.
30          All [justices of the peace and all] officers of any city, county, or other political
31     subdivision of this state not liable to impeachment shall be subject to removal as provided in
32     this chapter for high crimes and misdemeanors or malfeasance in office.
