8 General Description:
9 This bill modifies the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Act relating to the duties of
10 employers and employees.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 ▸ clarifies the duties of employers and employees;
14 ▸ grants rulemaking authority to the Labor Commission; and
15 ▸ makes technical and conforming changes.

24 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
25 Section 1. Section 34A-6-201 is amended to read:
26 34A-6-201. Duties of employers and employees.
27 (1) Each employer shall [

31 (a) furnish to each of its employees employment and a place of employment that are
32 free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical
33 harm to its employees; and
34 (b) comply with occupational safety and health standards promulgated under this
35 chapter.
36 (2) Each employee shall comply with [

38 chapter that are applicable to the employee's own actions and conduct.
39 (3) In accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, the
40 commission may make rules that are necessary to implement this section for a workplace with
41 multiple employers.
