8 LONG TITLE
9 General Description:
10 This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor expresses support for
11 the Utah Transit Authority Coordinated Mobility Department's efforts to survey all
12 transportation service providers for older adults, persons with disabilities, and other
13 citizens of Utah in an effort to inventory all mobility resources available to address
14 unmet transportation needs.
15 Highlighted Provisions:
16 This resolution:
17 ▸ expresses support for the Utah Transit Authority Coordinated Mobility
18 Department's efforts to inventory the services provided by transportation service
19 providers for older adults, persons with disabilities, and other citizens of Utah;
20 ▸ encourages transportation service providers for people with disabilities to supply the
21 Utah Transit Authority Coordinated Mobility Department with requested
22 information in order to make a complete inventory of all transportation options
23 available to older adults, persons with disabilities, and other citizens of Utah; and
24 ▸ encourages ongoing efforts that promote cooperation and coordination of services
25 and resources provided by transportation service providers for persons with
26 disabilities in ways that will better serve older adults, persons with disabilities, and
27 other citizens of Utah and provide easier and more accessible transportation services
28 and efficiencies, preserve resources, and create cost savings.

32 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
33 WHEREAS, approximately 197,607 older adults and approximately 190,626 persons
34 with disabilities live along the Wasatch Front;
35 WHEREAS, hundreds of transportation service providers serve people with disabilities;
36 WHEREAS, these transportation service providers for people with disabilities face
37 transportation delivery, funding, and policy challenges;
38 WHEREAS, transportation providers for people with disabilities have not coordinated
39 their transportation efforts or services;
40 WHEREAS, under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP 21),
41 the Federal Transit Administration requires mobility coordination;
42 WHEREAS, Section 5310 of MAP 21 requires projects from local coordinated plans to
43 meet the transportation needs of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other citizens of
44 Utah;
45 WHEREAS, Governor Herbert asked the Utah Transit Authority to inventory all
46 transportation options available to older adults and persons with disabilities;
47 WHEREAS, to better serve the older adults, persons with disabilities, and other citizens
48 of Utah, more accessible, efficient, and cost-saving uses of mobility resources are needed; and
49 WHEREAS, these resources will help to successfully address the coordinated mobility
50 issues facing transportation service providers for older adults, people with disabilities, and
51 other citizens of Utah and assist the development of mobility coordination between the various
52 mobility providers:
53 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
54 Governor concurring therein, expresses support for the Utah Transit Authority Coordinated
55 Mobility Department's efforts to inventory the services provided by transportation service
56 providers for older adults, persons with disabilities, and other citizens of Utah.
57 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor encourage
58 transportation service providers for persons with disabilities to supply the Utah Transit
59 Authority Coordinated Mobility Department with requested information in order to make a
60 complete inventory of all transportation options available to older adults, persons with
61 disabilities, and other citizens of Utah.
62 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor encourage
63 ongoing efforts that promote cooperation and coordination of services and resources provided
64 by transportation service providers for persons with disabilities in ways that will better serve
65 older adults, persons with disabilities, and other citizens of Utah and provide easier and more
66 accessible transportation services and efficiencies, preserve resources, and create cost savings.
67 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Utah
68 Department of Human Services, the Utah Department of Health, the Utah Department of
69 Transportation, Wasatch Front Regional Council, and the Utah Transit Authority.
