Chair Draxler called the meeting to order at 4:14 p.m.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Grover moved to approve the minutes of the February 25, 2015, and March 2, 2015, meetings. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Nelson and Rep. Peterson absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 89           Campaign Contribution and Public Service Assistance Disclosure Amendments (Rep. K. Powell)


Rep. Kraig Powell explained the bill.

MOTION:     Rep. Cox moved to replace H.B. 89 with 2nd Sub. H.B. 89. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Cox moved to pass out 2nd Sub. H.B. 89 favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

 

H.B. 376         Candidate Fundraising Amendments (Rep. D. McCay)


Rep. Dan McCay explained the bill.

MOTION:     Rep. Daw moved to replace H.B. 376 with 1st Sub. H.B. 376. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Arent moved to amend 1st Sub. H.B. 376 as follows:

 

1.    Page 3, Lines 76 through 78:   

 

76office, as defined in Section 20A-11-101, until on or after the later of:

77   (a) January 1 {  of the next calendar year  }  , three years  after the calendar year in which the contribution

78is made; or

 

The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Arent moved to hold 1st Sub. H.B. 376.

MOTION:     Rep. Cox moved to pass out 1st Sub. H.B. 376 favorably. The motion failed with Rep. Cox, Rep. Grover, and Rep. Nelson voting in favor.

 

Rep. Arent's original motion passed unanimously.

 

H.B. 388         Disaster Recovery for Local Governments (Rep. C. Oda)

 

Rep. Curtis Oda explained the bill with the assistance of Kris Hamlet, Director, Utah Division of Emergency Management and Jim Buchanan, Former Emergency Services Manager, Brigham City.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Peterson moved to replace H.B. 388 with 1st Sub. H.B. 388. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Peterson moved to pass out 1st Sub. H.B. 388 favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

 

S.B. 203          Immigration Consultants Amendments (Sen. L. Escamilla)

 

Sen. Escamilla explained the bill.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Arent moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Arent moved to place S.B. 203 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Grover moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
