Vice Chair Anderegg called the meeting to order at 8:34 a.m.

 

MOTION:       Rep. Moss moved to approve the minutes of the February 13, 2015, meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Barlow, Rep. DiCaro, Rep. Fawson, and Rep. Anderson absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 269           Tourist-oriented Highway Signing Program (Rep. M. Noel)

 

Rep. Noel explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:       Rep. Cox moved to amend the bill as follows:

 

 

 

 

1.    Page 2, Lines 48 through 49:        

 

48   (i) on the main-traveled way of an interstate or primary system  , as it existed on June 1, 1991,  for the display of logo

49advertising and information of interest to the traveling public if:

 

2.    Page 2, Line 55:    

 

55   (ii)  only  on rural conventional roads  as defined in rules adopted in accordance with Section 41-6a-301 in a county of the fourth, fifth, or sixth class  for tourist-oriented directional signs that display logo

 

3.    Page 2, Line 58:    

 

58the lease or other contract agreement with a private party for the  tourist-oriented directional  sign or sign space; and

 

4.    Page 3, Lines 63 through 65:        

 

63maintaining the signs or sign spaces.

         (c) Any sign erected pursuant to this Subsection (2) which was existing as of March 1, 2015, shall be permitted as if it were in compliance with this Subsection (2).          

64    {  (c)  }  (d)  The department may consult the Governor's Office of Economic Development in

65carrying out this Subsection (2).

MOTION:       Rep. Anderson moved to pass H.B. 269 out favorably as amended. The motion passed unanimously.

 

H.B. 243           Vintage Vehicle Amendments (Rep. F. Cox)

 

Rep. Cox explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:       Rep. Cunningham moved to amend the bill as follows:

 

 

1.    Page 1, Lines 11 through 13:        

 

11   This bill:

12         amends provisions for an owner of a vintage vehicle to {  certify  }  disclose  the vehicle's safety

13when applying for vehicle registration;

 

2.    Page 1, Line 26 through Page 2, Line 28:            

 

26   41-1a-226. Vintage vehicle -- Signed statement -- Registration certificate.

27   (1) The owner of a vintage vehicle [applying] who applies for registration under this

28part shall provide a signed statement {  certifying  } that the vintage vehicle:

 

The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:       Rep. Christofferson moved to pass H.B. 243 out favorably as amended. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:       Rep. King moved to place H.B. 243 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.

 

1st Sub. S.B. 51             Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division Account Amendments (Sen. W. Harper) (Rep. Johnny Anderson)

 

Sen. Harper explained the bill to the committee.
