8 LONG TITLE
9 General Description:
10 This resolution makes an application to Congress to call a convention for proposing
11 amendments to the United States Constitution.
12 Highlighted Provisions:
13 This resolution:
14 ▸ makes an application to Congress to call a convention for proposing amendments to
15 the United States Constitution in accordance with Article V of the Constitution; and
16 ▸ limits the scope of the convention to establishing a limit on the number of terms that
17 a person may be elected as a member of the United States House of Representatives
18 and the United States Senate.

22 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
23 WHEREAS, Article V of the United States Constitution provides that "on the
24 application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, [Congress] shall call a
25 convention for proposing amendments to this Constitution":
26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah
27 hereby makes an application to Congress, as provided by Article V of the Constitution of the
28 United States of America, to call a convention limited to proposing an amendment to the
29 Constitution of the United States of America to set a limit on the number of terms that a person
30 may be elected as a member of the United States House of Representatives and to set a limit on
31 the number of terms that a person may be elected as a member of the United States Senate.
32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall be considered as covering the
33 same subject matter as the applications from other states to Congress to call a convention to set
34 a limit on the number of terms that a person may be elected as a member of the United States
35 House of Representatives and the United States Senate and shall be aggregated with the same
36 for the purpose of attaining the two-thirds of states necessary to require Congress to call a
37 limited convention on this subject, but shall not be aggregated with any other applications on
38 any other subject.
39 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution constitutes a continuing application
40 in accordance with Article V of the United States Constitution until the legislatures of at least
41 two-thirds of the several states have made applications on the same subject.
42 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the Majority
43 Leader and Secretary of the United States Senate, the Speaker, Clerk, and Judiciary Chairman
44 of the United States House of Representatives, the members of Utah's congressional delegation,
45 and the presiding officers of each of the legislative houses in the several states, requesting their
46 cooperation.
